Penwortham School

Project name and location:

Penwortham Road, London

Brief summary of the project:

Penwortham School is designated as a Grade II listed building, it is a good example of one of the last TJ Bailey designed schools in London, built in the signature Queen Anne style for the London County Council in 1907-08. The project comprised of a steel frame single storey accommodation to form 3 new early years classes along with landscaping works over a 32 week JCT Design and Build contract. Planning requirements demanded a BREEAM Very Good rating which was achieved through collaboration with BREEAM consultants and our design team. The new eco-friendly building is heated by ground source heat pumps and powered partly by Solar PV Cells, whilst retaining a natural look by being clad with a timber system, fitting in seamlessly within the school environment.
