At Cosmur Construction, we recognise that every project we work on is part of a unique and respected local community. This is what motivates us to support and engage with our surrounding neighbours, from sharing our expertise to funding charity initiatives. In this way, our clients receive great value from their ventures by ensuring that we leave a lasting and positive impact in the community long after we complete our projects. Areas in which we have previously provided this for our clients include:
Cosmur Construction (London) Ltd recognises that we have a responsibility to provide our Client’s with a quality and innovative service whilst also managing the economic, social and environmental impact of our activities. To evidence this commitment, we have worked in collaboration with numerous clients to promote local labour initiatives and already have the infrastructure and relationships in place to deliver a range of employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities.
Apprenticeship and Training Initiatives we have previously provided to our clients include:
We attend Career and Employment Fairs across London boroughs including those in conjunction with London Region Construction Training Group (LRCTG). Our Managing Director, Paul Conway, is also Director of the LRCTG which promotes training and employment opportunities with like-minded SMEs.
We also regularly seek to work with organisations who are located close to the contracts we deliver to ensure procurement of goods, materials and services from within the local trade economy. Any required specialist subcontract enquiries will be sent out in the first instance to local firms within the project’s local area and, through engagement and development within our own supply chain database, we can also ensure these organisations seek to recruit in close proximity our works.
Cosmur Construction also works alongside a range of CITB accredited national training agencies in order to provide opportunities for future apprentices alongside collaborating with bespoke brokerage agencies to access hard to reach long term unemployed (NEETs) and disadvantaged young people. To support this, we also offer a developed work experience programme.
We also work collaboratively with our clients to support local training schemes. Previous examples include a partnership with Haringey Council and the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CONEL) to support their apprenticeship scheme ‘Haringey 100’; a campaign to encourage businesses and organisations across London to take on 100 apprentices in 100 working days.
Cosmur Construction plays an active role in helping to shape the future of the next generation. As we start new projects, our priorities involve forming relationships with local schools and colleges to offer insight and inspiration to the local youth. To facilitate this, we engage with schools within the local areas of our works through the following initiatives:
We attend career and employment seminars held by local schools, colleges and organisations, to share our knowledge and expertise of the industry to encourage future careers within the construction industry.
We offer work experience opportunities to students attending schools in the local area in order to provide first hand insight into employment within the construction industry, both in office-based roles as well as site-based.
We work within local communities to forge mutually beneficial relationships by understanding the needs of the local area, local authority targets and placement programmes while actively encouraging similar schemes wherever practical. We collaborate with our client’s to focus our resources and efforts to where it can have the most impact to the local area. These may include:
This includes initiatives such as sponsorships for our client’s selected charities, causes and community events in addition to providing volunteering hours to assist our client’s with their social value targets.
Cosmur have participated in a range of charitable initiatives from the sponsorship of local sports teams through to participating in fundraising events such as the ‘Tough Mudder Challenge’.
